- The "Club the Pathologie Infectieuse" is a joint event by SSI and SSM which will be held January 26, 2012 at the Langhans Auditorium, Institut für Pathologie, Inselspital Bern. There is no registration fee for members of the Society but for organizational reasons registration is still necessary. The final programme as well as a registration form may be found here >>>

- ATCIP: 10/11 May, 2012, Palazzo dei Congressi, Lugano. The symposium "Antimicrobial Therapy in Immunocompromised and Critically Ill Patients: Management and Perspectives" aims at addressing common issues and controversies relating to the treatment of infections in critically ill patients, and to provide the participants with information that can be used in the daily clinical practice. - First Swiss International Conference on Industrial Microbiology, Olten, 16-17 October, 2012. According to the organizers «The Microscon is the beginning of a new chapter in the exploration of advances and trends in Industrial Microbiology with the aim of bringing together the experts from industry and academia. - The 30th World Congress of Biomedical Laboratory Science is due to take place in Berlin , Germany from 18-22 August 2012. - 4th Annual "Laboratory Biorisk Management" Workshop, April 30-May 4, 2012 Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. More at http://www.biosafety.ca (click on Laboratory Biorisk Management Workshop tab to register for this seminar.
- Parasitology in the Tropics, 8-18 June, 2012, Ifkara, Tanzania Training Centre for International Health. This course is organized by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH; former Swiss Tropical Institute STI) which ist an associated institute of the University of Basel. The event aims toat learning or refreshing the knowledge of diagnostic parasitology relevant for the diagnosis of imported parasitic infections in Europe. It is custom-made to laboratory personal, but other interested specialists are welcom, too. And - you might want to experience some typical african extras sucha as a cruise on the Kilombero river in a dugout canoe or a overnight stay in Mikumi National Park. - Finally, though not strictly in the realm of microbes but nevertheless a topic of interest is an event by SCNAT in their series "The Big Six-Spotlight on the EU-Flagship-Initiative" entitled "Perspectives on High Power Computing in Neuroscience". Be sure that there will be presentations with images of outstanding beauty (and information content ;-)) . The symposium will be on January 20, 2012, at UniS, Schanzeneckstr. 1, Bern. June 21/22, 2012 - the Annual Congress of the Swiss Society for Microbiology. Every few years, the Swiss medical societies with a common interest in microbiology and infectious diseases organize a joint meeting. This year the Swiss Society for Microbiology, the Swiss Society for Infectious Diseases
(SSID)
, the Swiss Society for Hospital Hygiene
(SGSH)
and the Swiss Society for Tropical Medicine and Parasitology
(SSTMP)
have joined forces to present you a diverse and attractive scientific programme. The venue will be the OLMA exhibition center, St. Gallen.
Please note that the deadline for the submission of abstracts is February 27.
