A first Swiss Virology Meeting was successfully held in 2009. The 2010 Swiss Virology Meeting is scheduled for 1-2 february. It will take place at Gerzensee (BE). The sector has as well successfully organized "SSM meetings of doctoral students and their mentors" in the last years (the "Gerzensee Meetings"). It is planned to continue with this type of meetings.
Educational courses in FACS-sorting and IVIS are planned to be offered in the future as well.
In further progress is a project called "virtual virology", which will contain modules covering general virology and some 60 portraits of viruses. The existing parts are actually in evaluation by the veterinary students of Berne and Zurich.
